The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Agenda 2030 includes 17 global goals and 169 targets, adopted in 2015 by the 193 member states of the United Nations. The goals are designed to promote social, economic, and environmental sustainability, and they apply to all countries worldwide.

Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

What we do

SDG 8 • Raw material extraction and production often take place in countries where working conditions are not as strong as in Sweden. We see clear opportunities for improvement—especially when it comes to workplace health and safety, the right to decent living wages, and reasonable working hours. A common issue is poor production planning, which frequently leads to factory workers exceeding legal limits on working hours.

SDGs 12, 13 & 15 • Achieving the goal of sustainable consumption and production requires a radical shift in consumption patterns. As a company, we aim to offer circular solutions such as buy-back programs, the sale of used products, repair services, and rental options instead of purchase. These initiatives help reduce the need for new and/or finite resources, slow the loss of biodiversity, and lower our climate impact.

SDG 14 • Global trade negatively affects oceans and marine ecosystems, especially through air and water emissions as well as underwater noise that disturbs marine life. Since the majority of our own-brand products are transported by sea from China, we recognize our contribution to this issue. To reduce and mitigate this impact, we are exploring the possibility of manufacturing parts of our assortment locally—within the EU.

What we do

SDG 7 • Since 2018, we have sourced 100% renewable electricity for our operations, in accordance with the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation’s “Good Environmental Choice” criteria. We are also exploring the possibility of installing solar panels on our roof, complemented by battery storage. These measures would not only allow us to produce our own electricity and reduce the load on the grid but also contribute to the grid when needed. In this way, we can help create a more robust energy system and increase the share of renewable energy.

SDGs 3, 4 & 8 • We contribute to positive impact by promoting a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for our employees. We also value and support young people’s access to meaningful, educational, and developmental internships through collaborations with the education system.

SDGs 9, 12 & 13 • To support a more sustainable industry, we want to help modernize and adapt industrial processes toward greater sustainability—through more efficient resource use and cleaner, environmentally friendly technologies. In the short to medium term, we see the potential to climate-finance the emissions we cannot yet eliminate in our value chain. By investing in certified projects, we could support the necessary transformation of the factories producing our own-brand products. In the long term, this would contribute to more sustainable production and reduced climate impact.

SDG 17 • We will actively seek partnerships and foster collaborations that advance sustainable development and support the achievement of the Global Goals. We believe in broad cooperation—locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally—with other companies, industry organizations, and/or non-profit organizations.
